The Wasit Natural Reserve is a wetland center that was designed by X Architects and is situated in the United Arab Emirates atop of what was once a garbage dump.
After years of cleaning, architects managed to completely transform the area into a stunning attraction where visitors are able to view 350 different species of birds in their environment. The reserve includes large canopies that expand over the huge site and three different zones that divide its designated areas.
The buildings were made as to not detract from the natural environment, making the reserve appear as non-obtrusive -- with its color and low height allowing it to blend into the earth. In addition to offering visitors the perfect place to view and learn about bird species, the wetland center also incorporates facilities for veterinarians and researchers.
