Wedome Bakery is a bakery based in Beijing, China and it incorporates a specialized facial recognition point of sale system to run a seamless transaction process. The software is by Alipay, which is a financial label by Alibaba -- it's 'Smile-to-Pay' system is about the size of an Apple iPad.
Wedome Bakery's Chief Information Officer, Bo Hu, states that there are currently 300 stores that function using this paying format and plans to expand the platform to 400 more locations. He firmly believes that it makes the entire point of sale process run seamlessly and more efficient. To appeal more and respond to the reactions of the implementation, Alipay is planning to introduce 'beautifying filters' to the cameras.
