'Chromecast' is a portable device that allows consumers to watch internet videos on their TV. While media streamers are nothing new, many of these devices come with a remote control. Chromecast differs in that it allows consumers to use their phone or tablet as a remote.
Unlike other media streamers, Chromecast is designed to move the entire browsing experience to a consumer's mobile device. The device features a four inch HDMI cable that allows it to dangle freely away from other TV ports. Once connected, the device can be used with the accompanying Chromecast app to open videos from internet-based streaming services such as Netflix. These videos are then displayed directly on the individual's TV. Beyond streaming videos, consumers can also mirror the display of certain Android phones and Google's Chrome browser.
The device ultimately makes it simple and convenient for consumers to watch internet videos on a larger screen.
