Creating a blissful experience through his paintings, Arturo Samaniego depicts people wading in water in order to cleanse themselves and get in touch with their spirituality.

Harking to the practice of baptism, these images correlate the purity of water cleansing the body with soulful serenity and peacefulness. The artist paints water effortlessly, imbuing the surface with the reflection of the person as they in turn reflect on themselves. A hazy backdrop enhances the mystical feeling of the paintings, keeping the focus on the foreground and the single individuals, none of whom are actually facing the viewer.

Closed eyes or turned faces allow the viewer to come a bit closer, creating an opportunity to share the intimate moment experienced by the figures wading in the water.
