This Violence Against Women Campaign Empowers Through Emotion

MinhaMelhorSemana has created a violence against women campaign that is dark yet poetic. As though inspired by the world of Edward Scissorhands, the artwork is not only chaotic and disturbing but also vulnerable and emotional. Illustrator Johnny Cardoso interprets the abuse in an artistic way that doesn't demean the suffering these fictional women have seen. Complementing the imagery are poems that flesh out each scenario even more.

Conceived and executed by Bolero, an ad agency based in Fortaleza, Brazil, the violence against women campaign is more than simply visual. It was launched in unison with "feminine kits for its associates. The kits contain things that help women not suffer during their menstrual cycles," writes Adeevee. Thus there is something concrete coming out of the ad campaign.
