When Vine filmmaker Ryan McHenry, who’s claim to fame was the viral video ‘Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal,’ was diagnosed with cancer, the social media site came together to support him.
In order to help raise money for McHenry, his friends created a video called ‘Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cancer,’ and that clip also went viral. People from the Vine community have been donating money ever since. It is incredible how a social media site can connect strangers and enable them to help each other out, even if they do not personally know the person in need. This is a touching story about the social benefits of social media, and how people can band together when a Vine filmmaker is in need. Vine has also implement the hashtag #WeLoveRyan as another way the community can show their support.
