Villa Brisana is a residential renovation in Puerto Rico designed by Paul Raff Studio. The project reworks an existing house to better respond to the island’s tropical climate while maintaining its original structure. New openings and sliding doors are introduced to improve cross-ventilation and increase natural light, allowing interior spaces to connect more directly with the surrounding landscape. The renovation emphasizes passive cooling strategies rather than mechanical intervention.
The interior layouts are adjusted to create open-plan living areas that extend toward outdoor terraces and shaded exterior zones. Materials such as concrete, wood, and neutral finishes are used throughout the house for durability in humid conditions. Built-in furniture and storage reduce visual clutter and improve circulation. Roof overhangs and shading elements are incorporated to manage sun exposure and rainfall.
