Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson tries to adress the very complex and loaded question of ‘does the universe have a purpose.’ While mixing explanation with visual drawings is helpful to guide you through Tyson’s response, many may be disappointed to learn that there is no conclusive answer to this question. Religion and certain branches have tried countless times to predict the operations of the universe and our place within it.
As humans we are constantly seeking to have definitive answers, which some religious sects may answer by saying that we exist for the purpose of ‘serving God.’ However, these individuals who assert to have a definitive response to this complex answer is mistaken because they are trying to access information that is not based on an empirical foundation.
So does the universe have a purpose? While there are cases to purport that the universe has a purpose there are more cases against it.
