Waist-Worn Underwater Thrusters

The 'Seakool D2' Allows For Sped-Up Underwater Exploring

HighGreat, a Chinese company that is known for its drones, is managing to apply its airborne motoring expertise to the underwater space with the introduction of an eye-catching underwater thruster system that is designed to help scuba divers, swimmers and underwater explorers achieve greater speeds and mobility.

The 'Seakool D2' takes the form of a waist-borne device, which offers the advantage of being totally hands-free whilst also not impeding users' field of vision. Each side of the belt-like device bears an electric thruster that is hooked up to the wearer's thighs and is capable of offering 29 pounds of thrust, which translates to a top speed of 7.2 km/h. The gadget comes with a control unit and a lithium-polymer battery that offers top speed maintenance for over half an hour.

The 'Seakool D2' underwater thruster is the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, with pledges starting at $998.
