These typography-inspired furniture designs hit on the concept of bold graphic lettering set to take over the fashion and design world in 2013. From clocks shaped like a Q to apostrophe-shaped couches to J-shaped coat hanger hooks, the designs are highly stylized, smart and chic.
Impressively, the furniture collection was created by first year communication students at the University of Applied Science in Düsseldorf. Students were asked to design the pieces as part of an exploration into three dimensional letter forms.
Communications teacher at FHD, Holger Jacobs explained, "Beside the exploration of letter shapes it was important to explore the college workshops and different production processes. All too often typography is reduced to the screen and printed paper."
The students' hard work was showcased at a small exhibition at Düsseldorf gallery.
