Mountain-Inspired Observation Centers

The Tverrfjellhytta Pavilion is a Site for Deer Watching

The Tverrfjellhytta Pavilion is sculptural and organic, just like the side of a mountain. It is appropriate, then, that this structure was inspired by the surrounding Dovre mountain range in Norway, which is one of the last roaming areas for wild reindeer in Europe. Commissioned by the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre, the Tverrfjellhytta Pavilion is a stunning observation area that allows visitors to take in the majestic setting and hopefully glimpse a deer or two.

Designed by Snøhetta, an Oslo-based architecture firm, the Tverrfjellhytta Pavilion may look as beautiful as the landscape, but it is also highly durable to better withstand the harsh climate. The frame is made out of raw steel while Norwegian shipbuilders sculpted 10-inch square pine timber beams into an undulating form.
