The Tostitos 'Party Safe Bag' Helps Consumers Get Home Safely

With the Super Bowl around the corner, the Tostitos Party Safe Bag is designed to address one of the potential concerns that comes with those raucous Sunday night parties. The technological bag uses a sensitive microcontroller, LEDs and an NFC chip to order consumers an Uber if necessary.

There are two items that are virtually guaranteed at most Super Bowl parties: snacks and alcoholic drinks. While there's nothing wrong with doing a little drinking for the big game, Tostitos is invested in getting people home safely after the final whistle is blown. That's its plan with the Tostitos Party Safe Bag.

The bag is embedded with a microcontroller that detects small traces of alcohol on a person's breath. A ring of LEDs on the bag will change color based on the alcohol level detected, turning red and morphing into a steering wheel if they're over the limit. The bags will also display an Uber code, and an NFC chip lets consumers order a ride by simply tapping their phone against the bag.
