These Thermoelectric Generators Turn Body Heat into Usable Electricity

The growing power demands of consumers has many researchers looking for effective ways to supplement supply, which is what's at work with these thermoelectric generators.

Developed by researchers at the North Carolina State University (NCSU), the prototype wearables are designed to be worn on the body and absorb the warmth emitted from the skin. From here, the device would convert this warmth into energy to be utilized for a number of different devices. In the near future, this technology could be harnessed to be the source of energy needed to power wearable technology and smartphones.

The thermoelectric generators are small in size -- just one square centimeter in size -- and stick to the skin without causing any discomfort. While the power captured isn't very high, it could provide great options for wearable technology brands to implement into devices.
