The Vox wearable is a chest-mounted voice interface from Augmental that captures low-volume speech for hands-free dictation and computer control. Worn beneath clothing, the device uses an internal acoustic horn and a specialized MEMS microphone to detect speech vibrations through the body rather than the surrounding environment. Designed to support users with speech impairments while improving privacy, the wearable processes whispered or quiet speech for voice commands and transcription without relying on conventional outward-facing microphones.
Developed to complement Augmental's MouthPad interface, Vox forms part of a wearable computing system that combines tongue-based navigation with voice input for hands-free interaction. The pendant-style device features programmable buttons for customizable controls, approximately eight hours of battery life and around two hours of continuous transcription. Launching initially as a limited beta priced at $200 USD.
