Selene Sari Creates the Vox Aeris with Multifunctional Elements
London-based designer Selene Sari unveils the new Vox Aeris, which is essentially an air purifier that doubles as a speaker as well. It serves two purposes and features three operational modes: a listening mode, a Vox mode, and a cleaning mode. To clean the air, the device uses a scientific process known as agglomeration which is a process where the particles group together.
The air particles are pushed together to create a laser-engraved filter that then filters the air. The device can be plugged into the wall to work but also can be portable with an internal battery so that it can be a portable speaker for the outdoors or other environments. Sari notes, "Temporal discounting for air purification is a significant factor deterring us from cleaning our indoor air. This is because even if our surroundings are filled with unsafe levels of particulate matter, they are completely invisible and their most dangerous effects ranging from Alzheimer's to cancer typically show themselves in the long term, not immediately."
