Researchers Have Developed a Meatless Steak for 'The Vegetarian Butcher'
Researchers from Wageningen University in the Netherlands have developed a meatless steak for 'The Vegetarian Butcher,' one of the biggest Dutch manufacturers of meat alternatives. According to the researchers, the plant-based substance is a "fibrous structure that can form the basis for a meat analog" despite being completely free of any animal products.
As The Vegetarian Butcher knows, just because people have chosen to be vegan or vegetarian, that doesn't mean they don't also enjoy the taste and texture of meat. Often, vegans and vegetarians choose to stick with those diets due to environmental considerations (as opposed to animal cruelty.) As such, The Vegetarian Butcher's plant-based steak is not only meat free, being made entirely from legumes, but it is also created using a more sustainable process than many other meat alternatives.
