Modular Block Installations

smarin Debuts the Gioco Installation at the Triennale Museum

A new interactive installation titled 'Gioco,' conceived by the design studio smarin, has been established at the Triennale museum in Milan. The space is built around a collection of modular blocks constructed from spruce wood and cork. These are intended to be assembled by visitors without the need for tools or fasteners.

The modular blocks in Gioco can be reconfigured to create various structures such as seating, tables, partitions, and play elements. This allows the environment to be continuously transformed based on the activities of its users. When not in use, the stacked blocks also function as a wall providing acoustic and thermal insulation.

smarin's underlying philosophy for the project at the Triennale museum is to encourage active participation, bodily engagement, and collaborative design among participants.
