Missing work to take care of your kid is a good reason, but some childless employees may feel they’re at a disadvantage (when it comes to days off—not parenting). Now, childless people can level the playing field with a kit called The Office Kid.

The Office Kid is a kit that provides people with a reason to leave work: a fake child. Described as a "kid in a kit," The Office Kid comes with a framed picture of the "child" as well as his or her artwork to display conspicuously in your cubicle. The fake parents also get to choose the gender and ethnicity of the child, and other useful extras for a fee: sports team photos, doctor’s notes, and more of the child’s artwork.
