Despite already being considered a world-class business and vacation destination, the city of London is embarking on an $80 billion project called the Thames Hub Airport, a terminal which will make trans-European travel a synch.

Foster and Partners is the design firm behind this monolithic endeavor, and they've been coordinating with city planners, economists and thousands of contractors. An international airport, railroad lines and underground highways will connect the Thames Hub Airport with the rest of the world via air transit routes and the Channel Tunnel. Moreover, the current Thames Barrier will be extended to shield riverside property and allow for extra construction space. Taking inspiration from Hong Kong planners who built a modern travel hub within four years, Foster and Partners hopes to erect the new terminal as soon as possible. The next time you travel to Europe, it may be through this futuristic transport station -- just pray the Channel Tunnel doesn't collapse anytime soon!
