Grimshaw's Prefab Structures Were Made for Mass Health Testing

— June 4, 2020 — Art & Design
As it became clear that hospitals were becoming overwhelmed with incoming patients, pop-up sites and testing centers were rapidly created to maintain public health during a global pandemic. For healthcare company Osang and SG Blocks, Grimshaw developed plans for a range of prefabricated testing centers that take the form of shipping containers.

Osang needed a solution for its GeneFinder Covid-19 Plus Real Amp Kit, which is designed to catch symptoms early and delivers results in under 2.5 hours but relies on a laboratory. As such, the shipping container system includes D-Tec 2 lab and collection units, as well as smaller D-Tec 1 units with moveable components for separation and transportation.
