Google is now letting businesses mark themselves as ‘temporarily closed’ in response to COVID-19. This allows businesses to convey to their customers if they will be open or not, which provides a convenient way to inform customers.
Google My Business Users now have the ability to select, ‘Close this business on Google,’ and from there, users can mark their business as either ‘temporarily close,’ or ‘permanently closed.’ Before the new features, google was utilizing government data to determine which locations would be closed.
However businesses will have to take the action to make weather they are open or not, but Google will implement AI to ask businesses to indicate whether they are open or not.
