Old Elk Distillery Debuts its First Straight Wheat Whiskey

Old Elk Distillery has announced the debut of its first 'Straight Wheat Whiskey,' part of its 'Cask Finish Series.' This new release, finished in 'French Limousine Cognac Casks,' marks a notable addition to the distillery’s portfolio.

The Cask Finish Series, which includes Old Elk’s acclaimed 'High-Malt Bourbon' and 'Straight Rye Whiskey,' now extends its innovative flavor profiles to Straight Wheat Whiskey, catering to whiskey enthusiasts throughout the United States.

This new whisky contains an "alcohol by volume (ABV) of 47.5% and a proof of 95, which undergoes a meticulous aging process; initially aged for six years, the whiskey is then finished for an additional six months to a year in carefully selected French Limousine Cognac Casks." This finishing process enhances the whiskey’s character, for its unique and delicate profile with sweet fruit notes and subtle hints of spice. Likewise, the "influence of the Cognac casks introduces rich layers of dark fruit and honeycomb," adding depth and complexity to the whiskey.
