The New Sport Chek Flagship Pushes the Boundaries of Retail

As Canada's largest sporting goods retailer, Sport Chek has become the go-to source for Canadians looking for footwear, apparel and fitness equipment that will get them moving. In response to changing shopping habits, Sport Chek been opening a series of high-end flagship stores that push the boundaries of traditional retail and increase the value of shopping at a brick-and-mortar store. Instead of endless walls of products, the six new flagship stores uses digital technology and interactive installations to provide consumers with an experience that they will not find anywhere else.

Trend Hunter recently had a chance to speak to Paul Reid and Jake Boguski of FGL Sports about the company's newest flagship at CF Sherway Gardens. The 80,000 square foot store adds value to the customer experience with an extensive product selection and specialty sections dedicated to some of the world's best sports brands. The new store also features several high-tech, multi-sensory upgrades such as holographic display cases, a 3D foot scanner for finding the perfect shoe and even an interactive rock climbing wall. As Reid explains, "technology provides a unique opportunity to really connect with customers."
