Less than a month ago, Snapchat announced that it would be embracing the potential of augmented reality by offering camera filters that interact with the outside environment, and the company has decided to expand upon that with sponsored AR filters. Just like the sponsored filters that Snapchat has long offered for companies to increase their press exposure through the immensely popular app, the new sponsored AR filters will let companies design themed AR graphics through the Snapchat camera.
The key difference between Snapchat's previously available Sponsored Lenses and the newly announced filters is that the sponsored AR filters can include interactions with the entire environment. For instance, the filter could make an animated sun peek out from behind a real-world cloud; the potential is only limited by companies' creativity when it comes to taking advantage of the feature.
