If you think pumpkin spice is pedestrian, Trader Joe's may change your mind with its new Spiced Pumpkin Madeleine Cookies. With a delicate texture and a rich blend of seasonal spices, the cookies offer a much more refined take on one of fall's most popular flavors.
Trader Joe's new Spiced Pumpkin Madeleine Cookies are a seasonal treat that puts a French twist on a classic fall flavor. The cookies are produced by a Northern California bakery that been baking madeleines for over 40 years from a simple blend of sugar, butter, flour, and eggs. For the pumpkin version of the cookies, the bakery adds dried pumpkin flakes, ginger purée, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, allspice, and other natural flavors. As Trader Joe's explains, "The result is a warmly spiced, pumpkin-y Madeleine that’s soft, moist, buttery, and cake-like." And of course, the cookies are baked in distinctive scalloped molds to give them the signature shell shape of a Madeleine.
