Sparano + Mooney Design a New Project in the Utah Mountains

The architectural firm Sparano + Mooney has completed a new residential project within a Utah mountain landscape. The home is titled 'Nest' and spans 8,200 square feet.

Sparano + Mooney's design philosophy for the home was significantly influenced by the concept of 'forest bathing.' In other words, the firm strived to create a dwelling that immerses its inhabitants in the sensory experience of the surrounding aspen grove and meadow. Rather than leveling the sloped terrain, the structure was intentionally stepped down the hillside to preserve the existing vegetation and minimize its environmental impact. The interior layout is configured to balance privacy with social gathering, featuring a primary suite separated from the main living areas, multiple guest bedrooms, and dedicated spaces for recreation and wellness — from a yoga room and a gym with sauna to an indoor pickleball court.
