The concept of space tourism has been touted for years, but an increasing number of players are now looking to enter the market, with the latest of being a company called Orion Span, which is looking to open a luxurious space hotel by the year 2022.
Orion Span says its hotel will be called Aurora Station, and will revolve around our planet at a low-Earth orbit, meaning an altitude of around 322 kilometers. Stints at the hotel will be preceded by a three-month training program, while the stay itself will feature guests staying in two-person suites over a period of 12 days, with two such suites available. This space hotel will be designed to feature a modular setup, allowing for specialization at a relatively low cost.
