The Space Fantasy Ride is Getting the Multi-Touch 3D Experience

Universal Studios Japan is bringing 3D multi-touch technology to its newest ride, Space Fantasy. Using technology developed by GestureTek, the ride promises to be a truly immersive experience and will likely turn out to be the next big step for all roller coasters.

On the Space Fantasy ride, only gestures are needed to collect special “Stardust Clouds” to power the sun (the ride’s goal). No other controls are needed except for moving one’s arms and hands. Roller coasters in other amusement parks have yet to adopt this technology but hopefully it is only a matter of time.
