Japanese watch manufacturer Citizen has unveiled a beautiful new range of pocket watches that are designed to embrace and celebrate timepiece designs of years gone by, whilst taking advantage of the latest and greatest watch technologies, specifically solar-powered movements.
Introduced at the Baselworld exhibit in the Swiss city of Basel, the Citizen Caliber 0100 Eco-Drive pocket watches include a wide variety of energy-conserving features, including a special sleep mode during which the watch continues to keep track of the time without actually physically moving the hands until it's brought into contact with light. At this moment, the watch performs the incredible function of moving the hand to the correct time right in front of your eyes.
Incredibly, these unique solar-powered pocket watches are just as precise as conventionally designed timepieces, making them a fine example of the creative application of solar energy to the luxury accessory market.
