FIT and Complex Collaborated on the Online 'Sneaker Essentials' Program

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) partnered with publication Complex to launch 'Sneaker Essentials,' an online course that covers the fundamentals of sneaker design.

The rise in sneaker culture has created a multi-billion dollar global sneaker industry, and this online program developed by Qubed Education gives aspiring designers the chance to learn its ins and outs—from manufacturing and marketing to retail and career opportunities. As Sarah Mullins, chair of the Accessories Design program at FIT, describes: "The sneaker industry today is booming on a global scale, with the market driven by Millennial demand. This program is designed to translate that passion for sneakers into real-world knowledge and skills that open doors to meaningful career pathways."

The online program takes the form of a six-course series that provides over 30 hours of instruction, led by a mix of faculty from FIT, editors from Complex, experts from renowned sneaker brands and other industry leaders.
