Best Western is now experimenting with the addition of the voice-activated Amazon Dot to rooms, specifically as a tool for improving the overall customer experience.
Guests who book a room that is equipped with the artificially intelligent assistant will be able to have the device play music or report the time. Additionally, the device will be able to offer a variety of hotel services, such as wake-up calls, room service ordering and more.
While many smart speakers are being touted as must-have accessories for a connected home, a number of these voice-controlled hubs are also being integrated into hotel rooms. Like Best Western, other chains that are experimenting with the inclusion of smart devices include the Starwood's Aloft Hotel Group, as well as Wynn Resort.
