Drink-Testing Wristbands

The Sip Safe Will Help Keep Festival-Goers Safe from Spiked Drinks

The Sip Safe is possibly the most important wristband ever made, as it allows wearers to ensure their drinks remain safe. The wearable was developed by Australian creative agency Y&R ANZ and launched in conjunction with Monash Univesity in Melbourne, Australia. A test run of the Sip Safe was first completed in 2017 at various Australian Schoolies events and is now available to order online. The wristband will also see use in various youth events in Australia in 2018.

The Sip Safe may not be the first invention designed to ensure drink safety but its ability to be easily deployed at events makes it an appealing tool. Like other drug-testing items, the wristband is easy to use and simply requires wearers to dab a bit of liquid onto two spots on the band. These spots take just two minutes to show the result and will turn dark blue if a drink has been spiked.
