Sleep Walking Self Portraits

Simon Cheung's Photography Portfolio Depicts the Artist Snoozing

Artist Simon Cheung has released a series of self-portraits. The London-based photographer has worked exclusively with the theme of sleep, remaining true to the motif as he depicted himself snoozing while walking through water, flower beds and fields of grass.

Cheung draws his inspiration for his largely lethargic series from Alex Stoddard and Tim Walker. He specifically looked to Stoddard for creative guidance and to Walker for imaginative guidance. Given the inventive backgrounds of these professionals, it follows that Cheung remains preoccupied with an imaginary world.

This notion of imagination is present in his images as portrays what often looks like a dream. While laying out with his eyes shut, he could very well be conjuring up an alternative state of mind.
