Silal is Deploying IoT Sensors in Farms to Improve Local Produce Productivity

Silal, Abu Dhabi's leading fresh food and agritech company, launched the Digital Agronomy Service. The new service aims to deploy IoT sensors in 100 farms in 2022. Silal collaborated with Hoogendoorn, one of the world's horticultural innovators, to enable local farmers and advisers to make better farming decisions.

Abu Dhabi's food production initiative aims to advise farmers on irrigation, crop management, and fertilization to maximize locally-grown fresh produce. Additionally, the sensors will capture critical parameters like temperature, humidity, soil moisture, and pH. Silal's CEO, Salmeen Obaid Alameri, stressed the importance of AI and IoT in augmenting sustainability in the agricultural sector. He explains that "at Silal, we believe that digital transformation is key to enhance agricultural sustainability practices while empowering local farmers."
