Pointy Coastal Residential Projects

Splyce Design Has Completed the Shoreline House

The Shoreline House by Splyce Design is a coastal residential project in Victoria, British Columbia, that exemplifies thoughtful architectural intervention within sensitive ecological contexts.

The Splyce Design team opted for a renovation-focused approach rather than complete reconstruction. As such, the architects preserved much of the original 1960s structure while adding a modest single-story extension. The new addition demonstrates careful consideration of marine setback regulations through its irregular footprint and elevated construction, which reduces ground disturbance.

Material choices throughout the Shoreline House property create intentional contrasts — the light cedar cladding found on new design elements and the darker finishes from the original structure mirror the granite shoreline. Expansive, strategically placed glazing, on the other hand, blurs boundaries between interior spaces and the rugged coastal landscape.
