The future of retail could feature drone shopping assistants, as Walmart recently signed a patent to include the aerial vehicles in their customer service model.
According to the brand, the drones would help locate the store's products and conduct price verifications for customers. In the outline, Walmart claimed that consumers could summon a drone through an electronic system. From there, the individual would either plug in a desired product, or use the drone's integrated scanning system. If the consumer is searching for a product, the drone would be able to slowly lead the person to the appropriate aisle and location.
While futuristic, this system would benefit both the consumer and the worker by offering a more streamlined experience.
