This Ship Bridge Concept Looks Like Something Out of Star Wars

Rolls-Royce has teamed up with Finnish applied research organization VTT to come up with a vision for ship bridge designs that could become commonplace in 2025. A bridge is essentially the ship’s cockpit from where it can be commanded.
The VTT-Rolls-Royce vision depicts a futuristic scene where ship captains call up heads-up displays, and high-tech workstations convert the bridge into an augmented reality command-and-control system a la Star Wars.
The futuristic ship bridge has a workstation that is able to identify different users and adjust the station to fit custom presets for everything from chair height to display preferences. The bridge’s windows form an adjustable heads-up display with situational awareness, meaning a captain can see through the entire deck. The screen can also show the ship’s route, obstacles, sea ice conditions and other real-time information that can be shared between ships.
