Cannabis Retail Self-Checkout Systems

Perfect Union Launches RFID-Powered Self-Checkout System

Perfect Union, a prominent California-based cannabis retail chain operating under the parent company MWG Holdings Group, has successfully launched an RFID-powered self-checkout system at its Northside dispensary in Sacramento. This marks a significant technological milestone as the first licensed cannabis retailer in the state to receive official approval from the Department of Cannabis Control for this innovation.

The self-checkout system, developed in collaboration with the technology provider EXO and integrated with the dispensary's existing point-of-sale platform and the state-mandated Metrc track-and-trace system, represents a notable departure from traditional retail models by enabling the simultaneous identification of multiple tagged products. This, in turn, streamlines the purchasing process and reduces the need for manual scanning by staff.

This approval followed a successful observation and review period during which the system demonstrated its ability to maintain full compliance with California's stringent cannabis regulations.
