37-year-old Missouri-born, Oakland-based Scott Greenwalt creates paintings that seek to display a part of human life that is often overlooked by portrait artists -- internal growth and decay and essentially, the insides of the human body.

Scott Greenwalt's work benefits from his clearly defined attention to detail. Some of his images are so thorough that it is easy to forget that they're paintings of the biological process that goes on in the human body. His paintings can be easily misconstrued as deformed human faces, surrealist landscapes better suited for a phantasmagorical painting and extraterrestrial monsters.

Scott Greenwalt's inventive style has garnered him fans throughout the West Coast. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions in both San Francisco and Oakland. His latest work 'Spectacular Beasts' is on exhibit at the Incline Gallery in San Francisco until June 4th, 2011.
