The W Magazine September 2014 Scorsese's Women editorial plays up on the cinematic appeal of actresses Jodie Foster, Juliette Lewis, Winona Ryder, Sharon Stone and Jessica Lange. Photographer Steven Klein paid homage to their star appearances in the film director's movies, hence his production of highly dramatic sets.
Much like their on-screen performances, Klein made the women appear poised to read famed Hollywood scripts. Stylist Panos Yiapanis aided Klein via his assemblage of celebrity outfits, seen in rhinestone-studded collars, masculine two piece suits, glamorous opaque sunglasses and shimmering black skirts.
Over the top hairstyles further contributed to the theatrical appeal of Scorsese's Women. Whether sporting a curled fringe or crop bangs, the actresses came across as fictional characters.
