Romantic Funeral Wreaths

Saint Jo Flowers Offers Witty Valentine's Day Flowers with Funereal Text

— February 14, 2017 — Lifestyle
Some people have a soft spot for Valentine's Day and others think it's a scourge that ought to eradicated from the calendar, so Saint Jo Flowers has developed a gift that's the best of both worlds. The Manila-based florist offers Valentine's Day flowers made up like funeral wreaths and adorned with messages that reference death without abandoning the romance of the occasion.

Saint Jo Flowers' new line is called Pamatay na Valentine's Flowers, which roughly translates to "Murderous Valentine's Flowers" in English. The flowers come with sashes that have various witty lines written on them, like "You're drop-dead gorgeous," "I'm dying to see you," and "You have a killer smile."

The flowers are a clever way to combine a traditional Valentine's Day gift with something more morbid (and perhaps fitting, for the subset of Valentine's Day detractors.)
Trend Themes
1. Dark Humor Gifts - Retailers could offer witty and irreverent products during traditional celebratory holidays to appeal to consumers with a sense of humor and appreciation for unconventional gifts.
2. Anti-valentine's Day Products - Entrepreneurs can capitalize on the growing number of consumers who reject traditional Valentine's Day gifts and instead offer alternative products that cater to their sensibilities.
3. Death-themed Gifts - Opportunities exist for businesses to expand into the death-themed gift market, which appeals to a growing segment of consumers with a taste for dark humor and unconventional gift-giving traditions.
Industry Implications
1. Florist - Flower shops may expand their offerings beyond traditional bouquets to creative arrangements that cater to unconventional tastes, such as Saint Jo Flowers' murder-themed Valentine's Day flowers.
2. Gift Retailers - Retailers specializing in novelty and quirky gifts may develop product lines around unconventional themes, such as death and dark humor, to cater to consumers seeking non-traditional gifts for holidays and other occasions.
3. Stationery Industry - Stationery companies may explore the creation of witty, off-beat messages and slogans on their product lines to attract consumers who appreciate humor-based gifts and unconventional takes on traditional holidays.
