Japanese American artist Hiroya Kurata showcases the new art series by the name 'Rudy.' He brings a sense of nostalgia and captures the times of his past year, where he spends time with his family and friends over the course of the pandemic.
Through the art, he references Brooklyn locations and sees distorted visuals with the cartoon-like figures as well. The name 'Rudy' is a direct reference of the song 'A Message to you Rudy' by ska band. Looking at the art, one can see the blend of personal family references, comforting visuals, and his admiration of manga for a nostalgic touch. Rudy is currently bring showcased in Hong Kong at 'Over the Influence' from August 21st and will run until October 2nd.
