The Roblox Build Feature Lets Users Generate Playable Games from Text Prompts

Roblox Build enables users to create playable game prototypes directly within the Roblox app using natural language instead of Roblox Studio or traditional coding. Entering public alpha in New Zealand on July 28, the mobile-first feature generates gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, audio, and visual styles from a single prompt. Projects share the same backend, AI models, and chat history as Roblox Studio, allowing creators to begin development on mobile before refining their work on desktop.

The feature combines Roblox's proprietary AI technology with open-source models, including the Cube foundation model trained on interactive 3D assets and game-related data. Roblox is also introducing AI assistants that detect bugs before launch, explain game analytics, and recommend gameplay experiments to improve player engagement and retention. The public alpha will initially be available to age-verified users aged nine and older in New Zealand.
