Roar purchased two plots of land in Decentraland to create the Roar Meta Space for the purposes of designing and developing property for the virtual environment. The studio's expansion into the metaverse brings its expertise in architecture and interior design to a new frontier with a commercial art gallery, a furniture showroom and store, as well as a creative and business event space and a forward-thinking experimental hotel.
As the studio founder and creative director Pallavi Dean says, "The metaverse is clearly a lasting commercial phenomenon, not a passing fad, so we want – and need – to be there. We're already in advanced discussions with several clients about really exciting projects." With its presence, Roar aims to remove some of the main barriers to creativity in architecture, namely safety regulations and budget.
