REWE To Go is working with Lekkerland SE to create Germany's first autonomous store, which is open every day. The innovative establishment takes the shopper's card credentials when they enter the store, allowing them to browse for and checkout items without the help of a cashier. The company also uses smart vending machines and age-verification technology to ensure underage shoppers are not provided access to products like alcohol or tobacco.
