Ruin-Accented Modern Homes

Will Gamble Architects Design an Interesting Residential Extension

Will Gamble Architects were tasked with designing a residential extension for a Victorian house in Northamptonshire, UK. The project is dubbed 'The Parchment Works' and it proves to be quite interesting in its topography.

Will Gamble Architects build a residential extension that adds "an open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area" to the existing home. The outward aesthetic of the development, however, is quite captivating and is sure to capture the attention in the neighborhood. For this project, the studio took cues from the ruins of a 17th-century parchment factory and the result mixes contemporary sensibilities with heritage prestige. The historic elements also give a strong deconstructed aspect to the contemporary house, offering a noticeable juxtaposition that is also pleasing in appearance.
