Masham brewer T&R Theakston has introduced Stand Fast, a British Bitter for the Remembrance period that sends 100% of cask profit to the Armed Forces Benevolent Fund. The 3.9% ABV beer gives pub drinkers and on-trade buyers a way to support the British Armed Forces community through a familiar cask pour.
Its name comes from a long-used military phrase, and the project was led by Will Theakston, a sixth-generation family member with an army background. Casks sold out in less than 24 hours after backing from direct customers and wholesalers, with the beer intended for bars and pubs around the country.
A 100% profit donation on each cask turns a routine cask order into a fundraising decision for pub operators and wholesalers. With Theakston heading toward its bicentenary next year, the beer also gives the brewery a concrete way to connect its heritage with cause-led on-trade releases.
