Architectural firm Reddymade collaborated with Ai Weiwei, a contemporary artist, to design a geometric extension to a home in upstate New York. Since it was an extension to a pre-existing structure, its shape had to complement the rest of the home. To do so, the pair decided on a hexagonal structure.
The six-sided extension extends above a green hilly lawn. This design feature adds a contemporary flair to the house's farmhouse style and rustic setting. Combining the modern with the traditional, the team created a collaborative balance between their shared love for poetry and visual art. On the inside, the extension connects to a glass corridor. In addition, the hexagonal extension boasts a spotless white metal exterior.
