Gomi Releases Bluetooth Speakers Made of Recycled Plastic Waste

Brighton-based design studio Gomi has released a series of recycled plastic portable speakers called 'Collection One.' The idea for the collection is to showcase to consumers the benefit of recycling waste products. Gomi co-founder and chief design officer Tom Meades spoke about the speaker: "We are proving that there is a process to recycling properly, that we can create exciting products from waste, and bring beauty and individuality into tech."

The collection features Bluetooth speakers made of waste plastic and produces 50 percent less CO2 emissions than other speakers. The collection also features three colorways that consumers can choose: panther, avalanche, and ultraviolet. Each speaker is handmade and powered by a full-range neodymium driver with a bass radiator. Additionally, the speaker utilizes second-life lithium cells recycled from old e-bikes, providing over 30 hours of usage from a single 2-hour charge. The speaker is available for $299 in GBP.
