Vancouver-based artist Rebecca Chaperon has released a most unusual book of her artwork. Entitled Eerie Dearies, the book has an alphabet of 26 girls and the different ways each ends up missing school. From Contagious to Monoclueosis and Watterlogged, Chaperon has illustrated beautiful pictures for each letter of of the alphabet. Some of the paintings have an almost Gothic feel to them. The picture for Astral Projection, for example, is a wispy and ethereal painting, with the schoolgirl in question floating away off the page.

Rebecca Chaperon is a talented artist who creates an eerie and atmospheric alphabet reminiscent of Edward Gorey’s darkly humorous Gashly Crumb Tinies picture book. This book is a must-have for art fans.
